The Challenge
Supabase, a fully remote company with team members across 22 countries, faced the daunting task of planning its annual retreat. With past retreats in Munich and Bali, the need for a unique and accessible location grows increasingly more difficult with a larger team. The challenge? To organize a retreat for a diverse, global team, ensuring a blend of work and relaxation, while staying in a reasonable budget.
where's the best place to take 100 people for a company offsite?
we're planning for @supabase's offsite next year. So far we've done Germany and Bali. We're getting to the size that's making the planning difficult.

The Nowadays Process
After seeing a tweet from Supabase CEO, Paul Copplestone, about the difficulty in planning their upcoming offsite, Nowadays reached out with the perfect solution. The plan included:
- Automated Venue Sourcing: AI-driven analysis of venues in various locations including Mexico, Dominican Republic, Thailand, and Kyoto, focusing on unique stays that would resonate with their remote team based on historical offsites.
- Efficient Communication: Streamlined outreach to potential venues, managing responses, and conducting negotiations.
- Budget Optimization: Leveraging Nowadays' IATA accreditation to secure discounts and manage costs effectively, ensuring the retreat stayed within budget.
The Results
Supabase chose to do a full buyout of Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel & Beach Club, providing the perfect private atmosphere for their team. In the center of the famous Chaweng beach, March is the perfect time to check out Anantara, with everything from watersports right on the Chaweng Beach, street and mall shopping, to local restaurants of every cuisine.
The team was welcomed with much-needed shoulder massages during their product launch week, and left with smiles on their faces and unbreakable team bonds. What was the highlight of the trip? A BBQ on the beach with a fire show with the Supabase logo lighting up the finale.
“We can confidently say that this has been our team’s top-rated and best-catered event made possible by amazing staff and management. It was a week we will never forget and always cherish. ” –Laura Copplestone, Supabase
